Fall Festivi-teas: The Ultimate Almond Milk Chai Latte

Ah, fall. The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and sweaters are finally returning from their wardrobe exile. One of the things we love most about fall is the beverages. We can finally stand to drink something hot! Coffee is great, but the most fall-worthy beverage of all? A chai latte.

If you've never had this delicious drink, you're missing out! A traditional Indian beverage, 'chai' simply means tea. The combination of black tea with milk and spices is known as 'masala chai'. In western countries, it's referred to as a chai latte. This flavored tea drink is renowned for its fragrant aroma and is also known to have health benefits for digestion, heart health, and boosting immunity. What makes it so good for you? The addition of spices like cinnamon, ginger, clove and cardamom - all of which are known to have numerous health-related benefits.

The combination of these sweet smells is the perfect encapsulation of the season. Plus, it's yummy. And easy to make at home! Here's how to make the perfect almond milk chai latte:


2 cups boiling water

4 black tea bags

4 cups unsweetened almond milk, microwaved for 5 minutes

3 tablespoons local honey

3 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/8 teaspoon teaspoon ground star anise


Steep the tea bags in the boiled water for 5 minutes.

Combine the steeped tea, almond milk, honey, maple syrup and spices in a blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes, or until the ingredients are well-combined and a thick layer of foam has been created. Add additional spices or sweetener of choice to taste.
