What to Look Out For
Petrochemicals
Petrochemicals are substances made primarily from coal, oil, and natural gas.
These are often disguised in "natural" body care products as Earthwax, Ozokerite, and/or Piroctone Olamine. Petrochemicals have a negative impact on the environment and human health. Pretty Frank uses only organic Candallela Wax and Beeswax which are truly natural waxes.
Water
The presence of water in products causes mold and bacteria to grow quickly. For this reason, water-based deodorants use toxic chemicals to prevent bacteria growth from happening. Pretty Frank makes deodorants and body care products with water-less formulas. No toxic preservatives are needed, and we are saving a precious resource.
Fragrance
Fragrance is one of the most toxic additives to personal care products. "Fragrance" is a catch-all term on ingredient labels, making it hard to know exactly what's in your skin-care products. It looks like it’s one ingredient however, it’s likely a blend of many chemicals. Confirms the AAD "about 5,000 fragrance molecules are used in heavy rotation." Pretty Frank only uses organic and/or wildcrafted responsibly sourced, essential oils.
